Staff Nurse - Oncology- Manchester

They have an available opportunity for a Staff Nurse to work on the oncology department of the hospital with excellent experience, skills and knowledge. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The overall responsibility as a oncology staff nurse is to provide direct nursing care for specified patients, including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting into the ward manager as a Oncology Staff Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of care to patients on the ward. You will encapsulate the ethos of the hospital supporting patients through their journey. Part of your day to day will involve cannulation, phlebotomy, managing peripheral & central IV devices and the delivery of chemotherapy. As a Oncology Staff Nurse a vital part of your role will be ensuring you provide clinical leadership to all members of staff on the shift. You will also support junior members of staff with triage. Working in oncology does require you to be experienced in end of life care and the ability to adequately provide this care to patients when required. Part of your role as a Staff Nurse will also be to ensure that documentation is kept up to date and accurate.
YOUR EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nursing Degree
NMC Registration
Qualification in Chemotherapy Administration
REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for the role, you will need to:
• Have extensive experience of working in clinical oncology
• Have completed a chemotherapy course from a recognised university and have a good knowledge of cytotoxic drugs along with a good knowledge of oncology conditions, emergencies and end of life care.
• Be required to be a good team leader to junior members of staff and the ability to take control of shift when required.
• Be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Have excellent communication skills and be a good team player
