RESPONSIBILITIES:
The overall responsibility within this role is to assist the surgical team by donning sterile masks, gloves and gowns as well as aid the physician by passing instruments during surgery. You will provide post-operative care to patients. You will be responsible for delegating work to junior staff and preparing patients for both clinical and operative procedures. Supporting colleagues and preventing cross infection are among the other duties you will adhere to, while promoting a positive environment among the team.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working alongside the Theatre Manager as a Scrub Practitioner you will be responsible for assessing, planning and implementing the right standards of care to all patients who are undergoing surgical procedures. Your day to day will involve preparing the equipment and instruments according to the needs of the patient and the surgeon's specifications, updating the surgeon's preference cards, ensuring all equipment is checked prior to use, reporting any faults immediately and working as part of a cohesive team while assisting during the surgery. As a Scrub Nurse you may also be assigned other ad hoc duties as required by senior members of staff.


REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for the role, you will need to:

·Be a registered Nurse
·Have a valid NMC/HCPC registration.
·Experience of working as a Scrub Nurse with Orthopaedic/perioperative experience desirable.
·Experience in Da Vinci Robotic and liver procedures desirable.
·Experience with supporting the workflow processes of surgical care.
·Be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
·Excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
·An innate attention to detail with a strong ability to work well under pressure.
