Paediatric Critical Care Units (PCC) and the team
Paediatric Critical Care is a 36 bedded unit with 21 PICU Beds and 15 PHDU beds caring for children from 0-16 years. We are proud to deliver a high standard of care to critically ill children and their families. Our key focus is to provide high quality, patient focused care and we hold the Trust’s Gold Accreditation status. We are also proud to have been proactive in presenting nationally and internationally, celebrating our successes and sharing learning.
You will deliver direct patient care across the Paediatric ICU and Paediatric HDU areas. There will be opportunities to develop as a Sphere/Shift Leader. We have an established Education Team who support and encourage innovation and personal development across all nursing bands. The department has a Foundation course in Paediatric Critical Care, a Care of the High Dependent Child course and the Advanced Care of the Critically Ill Child course (incorporating Collaborative Weaning from the Mechanical Ventilator).

Our Commitments to Professional Development
There is a clear commitment to continuing education and staff development to enable all members of the team to fulfil their role and deliver a high standard of care to patients and their families. The Paediatric Critical Care CSU has a robust preceptorship and education programme, including competency based orientation and staff development documents that structure and record professional development, and a suite of modules and courses, quality assured by the Paediatric Intensive Care Society. All staff have clearly identified mentors and appraisal reviewers. The Paediatric Critical Care CSU offer a diverse range of learning experiences including inter-professional teaching and high fidelity simulation. Nurse education is delivered and evaluated by a team of Education and Development Practitioners and Multi-Disciplinary Team members.

We welcome applications from individuals who meet the following criteria:
Paediatric nurse with 6 months of recent PICU experience or an adult critical care nurse with 6 months of recent paediatric experience.
Have intermediate paediatric life support and a good understanding of safeguarding issues
Are a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
You are flexible and dynamic and can escalate patient concerns with excellent communication skills
You are a team player and can communicate effectively in large multi-disciplinary teams
You can care for the holistic needs of children and their families
Follow guidelines/policy and best practice to deliver high quality, safe care for all
Relocation Package to Include
Up to 6 weeks of accommodation. Plus Hotel Quarantine for those travelling from Red list countries
