“Powerful real experiences”
“Incredible resilience and wisdom”
Twitter was alight with praise for the ‘Care Leavers: Care About Your Health’ conference.
Held in Farmleigh House to celebrate National Care Leavers Day, ‘Care Leavers: Care About Your Health’ was hosted by EPIC and Care Leavers Ireland and launched by Dr James Reilly, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs.
Aimed at young adults who have spent time in residential care and professionals working in the area, the conference featured workshops on relationships, social media and sexual health as well as sessions on nutrition and physical and mental wellbeing.
The ambitious and holistic approach taken to challenging topics was the secret to the day’s success in the opinion of Noel Howard, Director of Care Leavers Ireland. Noel said, “The conference brings together care leavers and professionals which makes for a unique blend and is mutually beneficial. Care Leavers Ireland is proud to be associated with Ireland’s National Care Leavers Day.”
