They have an available opportunity for a Senior Orthopaedic Registered Nurse to join the Theatre team in one of their hospital's based in Leeds. RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Senior Scrub Practitioner you will deliver safe quality care for patients during their peri-operative phase of care. You will carry out scrub duties according to policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement, and promoting best evidence based practice at all times.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working alongside the Theatre Manager you will be responsible for assessing, planning and implementing the right standards of care to all patients who are undergoing surgical procedures. Your day to day will involve preparing the equipment and instruments according to the needs of the patient and the surgeon's specifications, updating the surgeon's preference cards, ensuring all equipment is checked prior to use, reporting any faults immediately. You will have a strong ability to plan ahead and co-ordinate the use of supplies, ensuring everything is used appropriately and safely. You will monitor the patient's condition throughout the procedure and communicate effectively when required with other colleagues involved in the procedure. You will be responsible for coordinating all mandatory checks prior to surgery, during and pre wound closure. Part of your role as a Lead is also being responsible for stock control, drug of fluid administration, ensuring accidents or complaints are recorded accurately and contributing to implementing changes in policy or procedure.

REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for the role, you will need to:

• Have a valid NMC registration
• At least 3 years' experience working as a Scrub Nurse or an Operating Department Practitioner.
• Competency scrubbing across a range of specialties, Orthopaedics essential
• Be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Assisting and teaching qualification desirable but not essential.
• Have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
