Critical Care Outreach Nurse

They have an available opportunity for a Critical Care Outreach Nurse to work in the ICU Unit and of the hospital with excellent experience, skills and knowledge. RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role centres around the identification of patients who are deteriorating with them to help prevent their admission to hospital or ensuring that an admission to hospital will happen in a timely manner. Another vital aspect of the role is to include follow up to patients discharged from ICU back to the ward and to be involved with continuous development of the staff on through education.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting into the unit manager as a Critical Care outreach nurse you will be responsible for delivering the highest standards of care to patients in any department of the hospital. You will act as an emergency response via the bleep system to call for Level 1 patients. You will carry out assessments of patients to determine the level of support required including Oxygen therapy, IV access and airway management. Part of your role will involve having to request or initiate further investigations for patients i.e CXR, arterial and venous blood samples and ECG as and when required, adhering to protocols, along with initiating referrals to multidisciplinary teams for patient management. Your role will also involve participating in the Resus team by responding and providing care in emergency situations. You will act as an advocate for patients and contribute to the provision of information so that patients and their families can make informed decisions regarding their care. You will also be assigned other ad hoc duties as required by senior members of staff.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for the role, you will need to:
• To be considered for this role you will have at least 3 years' experience working at Senior level in Intensive Care and have completed an Intensive Care Course.
• ILS training along with a strong knowledge of patients with PCA and epidural, respiratory ventilation, cardiovascular and renal care
• You will be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team you will have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
