The overall responsibility of a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Breast Care is to provide support, education and information to people with breast cancer, their family and those who care for them. You will aim to provide high standards of treatment in breast care nursing.


As an experienced Breast Care Clinical Nurse Specialist you will demonstrate extensive knowledge of the principles of breast disease, predominately cancer. You will play a key role in enabling the clinical to meet targets and will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing new policies and procedures to improve the needs of the service. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams to create and maintain a robust service whilst incorporating other centre services such as diagnostics, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Your day to day as a Breast Care Clinical Nurse Specialist will involve being managing direct patient care and being responsible for a clinical case load, ensuring the right standards of care are provided to patients at all times. Working alongside the patients in their clinical pathway you will offer Holistic Needs Assessments at relevant points and provide them with a detailed care plan. You will also contribute to in house education programmes and keep up to date in current innovations in Oncology care.

NMC Registration


To be eligible for the role, you will need to:

• Have at least 5 years post-graduation experience in oncology and extensive experience in breast care
• You will have experience of symptom management and a good understanding of the current issues in Oncology nursing
• A teaching and assessing module/mentorship would be desirable as well as a post grad certificate in cancer/breast related field.
• Be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
