THE OPPORTUNITY:
Experienced Band 5 A&E Nurse's

THE BACKGROUND:
At TTM Healthcare we are proud to have partnered with a leading NHS Trust. They have an available opportunity for Registered General Nurse's with excellent A&E skills & experience, to work in emergency departments in hospitals. A&E nurses are often the first point of contact for patients after they enter the hospital setting. Their first task is to assess the patient by talking to them about what happened and taking their vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature. The doctors and nurses in A&E are highly trained in emergency medicine and have access to equipment and treatments for life threatening conditions. At A&E nurses will assess your condition and decide on further action using a system called clinical triage.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for maintaining care standards in accident and emergency
• Assist with checking in patients, doing triage work for doctors and other nurses within the department
• Work closely with doctors to keep patients and their family members updated on test results or treatment recommendations
• Maintain contact with laboratory personnel to report any initial lab findings back to the A&E doctors
• Make arrangements for patients that are deemed to need care requiring them to be admitted to the hospital for one night or longer
• Triage (assign degrees of urgency and order of treatment) to patients so those who have more critical issues get care first
• Take patients' vital signs
• Administer medication
• Record patients' symptoms
• Help doctors with medical procedures
• Provide education and support to patients and families
• Remain calm under pressure
• Think and act quickly in urgent situations
• Work and communicate well with the doctors and the rest of the medical team
• Be compassionate with patients and their families who may be upset



EDUCATION:
Nursing certificate and registration with the NMC with a valid UK PIN number


THE REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for this role, you will need to:

• Be a registered staff nurse with ideally 1 or more years' experience
• Ability to cover shift patterns of either earlies or lates
• Registered with the NMC
• Ideally have worked within hospital environment
• Have very good communication skills and work well in a team
