HCPC Registration

The HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) is the regulatory body for a wide range of allied health professionals in the UK.

Among the professions regulated by the HCPC are:

  • Arts therapists
  • Biomedical scientists
  • Chiropodists / podiatrists
  • Clinical scientists
  • Dietitians
  • Hearing aid dispensers
  • Occupational therapists
  • Operating department practitioners
  • Physiotherapists
  • Psychologists
  • Radiographers
  • Speech and language therapists

Registration for international professionals

If you are an overseas professional wishing to work in the UK it is important that you apply for your HCPC Registration as soon as possible. Registration can take a number of months to come through, so early application to the HCPC is strongly advised.

Applications and assessment

Each application to the HCPC is examined individually to assess your:

  1. Training and qualifications
  2. Professional skills and experience
  3. Personal health and character
  4. English language competence

Verification: all applicants applying for registration via the international route will be subject to verification of their identity, qualifications and employment.


Scrutiny fee: HCPC registration for international professionals must be submitted with a one off non-refundable payment of £495. This is called a scrutiny fee and your application will not be considered without this payment.
